Default suzuki gs450 engine in yamaha golf cart

just moking things up. i pulled the engine from the doner bike and placed it on the engine cradle. want to make a jackshaft but theres not much room. i might have to stretch the engine craddle to make things fit. any suggestions would be appreciated.

Mike, lots of builds like yours on this site, check them all out and use information that's here, you don't have to run a Jack Shaft, get the sprocket that everyone else uses on the rear axle and the biggest sprocket you can find to fit your engine. I would ditch the whole stock swing arm/cradle and build one that you can get ground clearance for your axle and a better angle for your engine. Good luck and please finish your build, too many just wind up in the junk pile unfinished.

I've been looking around this site from what I've read the cart wont be too fast because it would be geared too low. Has anyone ever extended the engine sprocket with a shaft? I was thinking of adding a shaft to the original sprocket to Clear the engine with a bigger sprocket then maybe a pillow blocks at the end for support. I've been working on this cart for a while trying to keep it a budget project so that i can finish it quicker. I just bought some rhino wheels and tires and the wheel spacer/adapters are on order. Ill try to use the original craddle for now to keep the cost down but if it doesn't fit ill make a new one like you said. Doe anyone know if the differential pumpkin can be clocked up or down from the axle tubes? Im pretty sure it can be done but im worried about the diff oil doing its job with the different angles.

Nice build! wish I had that steel frame to work with. I'm building that 650cc club car and it's a pain. Will be running by mid february if everything goes as planned. Would like to see this one finished also don't give up on it.
