The rear body is fiberglass. the early front cowels were also fiberglass, I beleive in 1982 the went to a polypropalyn (I'm shure spelled wrong). Later Dave

Hi Dave I sure do appreciate your answer on this. I purchased a gallon of car paint but now Im wondering if it will work on it. Thanks again Dave, what would we do if it weren't for these boards.

I put regular car paint made for metal on my G2 and it wouldnt flex causing it pop and crack after a few months. I have 2006 Corvette red on my G16 and it hasnt messed up after a year hard driving. The Corvette paint works better because its made to flex better because Corvettes have so much plastic on them.

You could use Saturn paint as well. They used to be all plastic.

I sure do appreciate everyone help on this. Well todays temp made it up to 60 degrees so I was able to do some work on my G1. Got the seats off the front and rear body off, the floor board rubber is off. The front wheels are off and getting ready to install the 4 inch lift. Hope its nice out tomorrow so I can get the lift on.

Calivn...Good luck on your project. I thank all of us would love to see Pix's from teardown to finish (and when your finished, you'll always have a document of your hard work and accomplishment). Now I'm not a painter, so I'll try to post a pix of a G9A I built for a freinds kids. Stock motor/Toms speed spring/4" lift/20" knobbies/box(took out the "touque spring" was to slow!) We (I should say "HE" "Rhino lined" the body parts and box) basic "black", but with the "He**" they put it through...Works well.

Do you have to recover the seats on it? I need to recover mine.

UH, Corvette paint???

Where do you get that?

Regular automotive paint is fine for fiberglass and plastic, most cars today have many different materials and the same paint and clear is used on all of it.

If prepped properly there shouldn't be a problem.

Here is a G1 I recently painted, regular base with urethane clear. The body is fiberglass and the fron cowl is some sort of plastic.
