best way to hook up headlights
can I run the wiring direct to the battery and just put an inline toggle to break the hot wire ?? if I do this the lights COULD be on when the cart isnt running right ??
Also will the starter/gen be able to keep the battery charged as well as the lights on ?? Will this stress the system ?? |

Re: best way to hook up headlights
That's EXACTLY how ALL of my lights are hooked up!
The only stress would be on the battery... especially if your starter/generator is weak! |

Re: best way to hook up headlights
I wired mine to the battery, with a simple cheap light switch from the Hope Depot.
This was installed (Screwed to the body) under the seat, so I just reach down next to the starter key and can control my switch. The generator keeps the battery charged pretty well, and I can even put my lights on when my cart is not running. |

Re: best way to hook up headlights
whacha guys use for headlights ?? How would you test your gen ?? Run the cart with a volt meter and look for like 14 volts going to the batt ??
This cart sat outside all winter and the battery turned it over and started it with no problem. |

Re: best way to hook up headlights
I use Wallmart special headlights and tail lights. Some people spend lots more and get lights that are hardly better. Mine cost about $10 per light at wallie's world. I give these lights a A+. I would test the battery with the cart off, and then with the cart on, subtract, and see how many volts are generated. You want about 1.5v to be added.
If you plan to use costly lights, or just want to do it the "right" way, I suggest installing a fuse block to protect everything. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/te...0054983019671a There's an example of a fuse block. They should sell them at your local autoparts store. They are not really required for cheap lighting, but if you want to run lights that cost a lot, or a in-cart-radio, or anything that could become damaged, I suggest a cheap fuse block. |

brake lights, and, 4 LED strips underneath! No problems with my S/G keeping the battery charged! There is a test for S/G's... it'll be a few days before I can post it, maybe someone else could post it sooner! I'd suggest getting a maintenance service manual for your cart! It's worth the $ !!! |
