Default Help me understand Solid State

The more I read on here the more I learn. But its like an addiction. I have an 88 DS that I thought was converted to Solid State. As I have Curtis Controller (no coils) and a GE 36/48 motor. But I still have the V-glide throttle? So is my cart solid state? Is the v-glide fine for my setup. How did they get the V-glide to work in this setup? TIA.

It is solid state (Controller) and that "VGlide" body is referred to as "Multi-Step Potentiometer".

It has resistors inside, similar to this:

Solid state is a way to control the amperage flow from the batteries to the motor.
A V-glide is a throttle signal device.
An MCOR is a throttle signal device.
An Inductive Throttle System (ITS) is a throttle signal device.
A potentiometer is a throttle signal device.

Solid state speed controls can be manufactured or programmed to work with any of the above throttle signal devices.
