2007 EZ-GO will not move
I have a 2007 EZ-GO. It had a problem intermittently at first with it not moving, now it's all the time. What happens is when you turn the key on, the battery gauge comes on and is at full charge tell me the batteries are charged and okay. Then when you push the gas pedal in either forward or reverse nothing happens. It makes a subtle click, which I assume was the micro-switch.
I've been reading about problems with the solenoid and the speed controller(?) and I can't really relate to well with other peoples' problems because it seems like their carts will move SOMETIMES and other times there's nothing. Mine has nothing all the time. What should I start testing and how should I test it? Any advice would be great! Thanks! |

I would open the environmental cover, and also open the seat, and then try to start out and MAKE SURE the solenoid is or isn't making a noise. I am sure others who know more about electrical theory will chime in soon! And welcome to BGW!!!!!!

Use the flow chart below to determine the drive system for your cart....

It could be my mind tricking me but that's what it sounds like. To me, it doesn't sound like the solenoid is making any noise. Another area of interest was there is no reverse "beeeeeep" when you put the cart in reverse. Does this mean anything? |

Re: 2007 EZ-GO will not move
I would say you may have no power to the keyswitch....Check the source which may be a fused connection at the main battery pack +.
Is the small wire present (Not the 10g charge wire but another smaller one) |

I will check the fuse (which I'm assuming is the big one that is hooked onto the battery). What small wire are you talking about? I'm not sure I follow... |

Re: 2007 EZ-GO will not move
The power source for the keyswitch, and all the other switches (except accessories such as headlights) is the controller.
No reverse beeper? That sounds like the small red wire from the solenoid's battery side large terminal to J1 Pin-5 is bad. That is one of the two voltage sources that powers the controller's control circuitry. Attached is a schematic of a PDS drive system with the solenoid activation circuit highlighted. All the wires highlighted in RED should have full battery pack voltage on them to get the solenoid to click. |

Re: 2007 EZ-GO will not move
I checked it out today and I got the same situation. I hear the "click" sound but it is definitely coming from the pedal area.
Could this be a solenoid? How would I test the solenoid to see if it's the problem or if there is another problem? Keep in mind, I'm a little dumb to all the terminology so be easy here. lol Thanks again! |

Re: 2007 EZ-GO will not move
The solenoid is your main safety on/off switch. It makes or breaks the connection between the two large posts when positive and negative are applied to the two small posts. That's it in a nutshell.
Simply apply 36v negative to the small post with the black and/or blue wires attached to it. And apply 36v positive to the small posts with the yellow and/or red wire attached to it. This should energize the coil and you should hear a definitive click as the contacts are drawn together. |
