215x40 on (12" wheels) non-lifted EZGO TXT Electric
Can someone give me an idea if 215x40 tires clear okay on an unlifted EZGO? I know I'm okay with 205x30. I've got new HD leafs front and rear.
If I believe my math the difference in height between the two tires is 1.93" and the difference in width is .39". In further reading here on the forum (new edits to my question here), seems I'm fine w/ the overall diameter given 20.0" is the max for an non-lifted cart. The diameter of the tires based on 215 is 18.77". So the real question comes down to the 215x40 versus 205x30 width difference --is .39" going to throw things off? I don't see anything about offset regarding the particular wheels I'm looking at. I don't want any rubbing so that's my main concern. Thank you. If you are asking if the width will be too much, that is, will the tire rub? Then my answer is: I don't think you'll have a problem. But, if you really want to be certain, load the cart up with a couple people and have the driver turn the wheel lock to lock. Check things out and make your decision from that.

I run 215/40x12's (Duro Excel Touring) on my cart without any issues. Here is a pic before I lowered it and added the air ride. You should have NO issues:
I love the 'beefy' look of these tires. Here is it compared to some 215/35x12's. Edit: Here is a list of actual tire sizes converted from metric: 205/30-12= 8.07" Wide, 16.84" Tall (2.42" sidewall) 215/30-12= 8.46" Wide, 17.07' Tall (2.53" sidewall) 215/35-12= 8.46" Wide, 17.9" Tall (2.96" sidewall) 215/40-12= 8.46" Wide, 18.77" Tall (3.38" sidewall) |

Chloe & Monkey-1, okay, thanks good to know. I know my question wasn't terribly clear.
At the end of the day I've not purchased any wheels/tires yet and am trying to figure out what will work. I'd like to minimize the amount of wheel/tire protruding out from under the fenders if possible. Pat Arnold |

I went out to the garage and checked mine today. They are, indeed, 215/40's. I have no issues at all. Don't need fender flares and no internal contact.
