ok here is what i have done.

ohm meter test
a1-a2 215 ohm reading (good?)
s1-s2 0 ohm reading (short?)
tested the motor with a 12 volt battery and it moved.
took the motor apart and cleaned all the dust out
i found a crack in the center of the motor (have pics will post when i can figure how to)

put it all back togther and the same problem
any ideas?

you know i could be wrong on this but i,m thinking that crack just might have something to do with it, you wouldn,t have another motor you could put in to try would you? the motor may show good but drop under load because of that crack............i,m not sure at all but its something to think about............................

The motors are both series so it will work, I think they have the same # of input splines too.

hmm 215 seems a little high but i guess its an old motor so the windings wont be as good.

is it exactly 0 ohms for the field? it should have at least some resistance, although it will be quite low, defo < 5 ohms.

that crack looks worrying as the other posts above state ^^
might be shorting the windings underneath.

also be careful when testing as if you have a short the windings could potentially explode :S

can you remove the rotor ( the rotary part of the motor ) ?
if so do you have a good electrical background and ill talk about growler test?
