Default old people scooter

i have everything that made an old people scooter go an was thinkin of making an 3 wheeled mini scooter type thing, i know of golf carts and higher voltage but how much do you's think a 24volt motor and controller hold up at 48 volts or higher, and what would be good batteries that are cheap but would work for something like that

cheap batteries=oxymoron

You'll want to use Sealed Lead Acid Batteries for that since they are gonna be the smallest thing you could get, however finding them for $60 a piece with a decent amp hour rating could be tough. The 24 volt motor won't have any problem at 48 volts, the controller however will. You'll need a controller that is rated for 48 volts or just run the extra 24 volts as a "boost"

I have seen videos of WCM doing some crazy stuff in his power chair. Maybe if he sees this he can chime in with some specs.

It depends on the type of controller and motor.

The horn button would work for a momentary switch...as for wiring it directly from the battery to the motor it won't work...well it would but just for a little while. You want a diode to keep that extra voltage from going back to the controller and frying it, and you'll want the solenoid to keep from frying your horn button. So yeh you'd have to wire it just like it was a cart. If it were as easy as just wiring the battery directly to the motor I'm sure alot more people would do that to their carts, sadly its not that easy.
