Re: Taylor Dunn Diesel Build
Hey man, Awesome Rig!! Looks a little familiar too. I like the Yanmar, what's the hp/tq rating on that monster? I don't know what the differences were/are between a Taylor Dunn or a Kalamazoo Speed Truck besides yours was electric and my WAS a gasser. When I first got mine it was hitting right around 30-35 depend on the slope, with gps. It only does 25-28 now. But instead of going hydraulic, why not go standard. I have a 3spd in mine and although I haven't found any of those specific transmission's I have found them for cushman haulsters and such. From there you could either fab and adapter plate or try to find the SAE bell housing you would need. It sounds kind of difficult, but just a bit easier than going hydraulic...Just an Idea. Take a look at some of my pics to get an idea of what I did with mine. Hopefully it helps.

There's no way I was going to miss this one! It's way too cool. I'm wondering though, what's he going to do about those factory tires? I'm thinking they're going to be way too skinny for farm work.

im considering going the gear box route now, im just having a hard time finding anything in the ball park, I can easily convert the chain driven rear end to the traditional pinion just buy removing the chain gear and installing a pinion. having to custom build a bell housing wouldn't be too difficult, my buddy owns a machine shop. I am going to have to address the tires, just want to get this thing rolling on its own first. |

Re: Taylor Dunn Diesel Build
I think i would try to use that 9" as well.
hopefully you can find a trans that will work. you could use atv tires that have a heavier ply rating. that was a main reason that i bought the ones i did. of course it may need to be lifted too a little. just a thought. you need some clearance to do logging i would think. i know cramblit had to do some machine work to make the diesel fit his application |
