Default 1994 G9 with Predator 670 43hp Motor help

Im looking to drop your Predator 670 in a 1994 G9 yamaha golf cart with a Vegas Carts big bore kit (with thier clutch). Performance670 has a 43hp version Will the clutch and rear end hold it? I was originally going to go with the 32hp version, but I was told if I was a "performance minded" I should jump to the 43HP. I am thinking the 32hp will be plenty. I have a 4 inch lift on it.

What are you looking to do with the cart?

What engine are you running now?

What are your expectations?

How you build it depends on how it will be used and abused.

The more powerful engine has a wilder camshaft and the flat slide mikuni carb. Milled and ported heads. They note that it still has the cast flywheel to retain the charging system limiting you to a 5000 rpm red line. I do see both engines have the billet connecting rods with bearing inserts. As another stated it just depends on how you plan on using the engine. The more powerful version is going to feel a lot better in the 3500-5000 rpm range. Both Redbeardsgarage and carsandcameras have done vehicles with the more powerful version of the engine on you tube for your viewing. P.S. I see another BGWer using the built 670 under the thread "I got the bug". Maybe you 2 can compare ideas ?

I currently have a stock engine. Its underpowered for me. I want something dependable with more umph..... I'd like to be able to pop a wheelie (JUVENILE... LOL) Id like to be able to have more power than it should. I dont want to burn up the clutch or break the rear end. Will the Clutch and rear end hold up to the 43hp motor?

Yours is among the beefiest of the yamahas BUT that being said members here have broken input shafts , clutches and axles. A lot has to do with what kind of shape the parts are to start with AND how hard you abuse the various parts. P.S. My HD cart has a 43 HP sled engine in it but the Dana rear end in there looks like it comes from a small car. A pic of it with the engine removed is on page 2 of my 82 HD build in the sled section. It has the stock secondary clutch with a very much lower engagement comet sled primary unit.

If you get the Team Industries primary clutch it will hold up to 43hp. You have to buy those direct usually. Dennis Kirk might have them. I'd be worried about the secondary, although some guys run quad engines with over 50hp without issues. The CPP06 primary clutch is listed up to 40hp, so it might be good. The 780 is a little wimpy for that, I wouldn't try it.

As far as the 670 goes, just in stock form it will spank the pants off any cart with a stock engine! Will it pop wheelies? Not unless you have a super lightweight cart like a Club Car. The Yamaha G9 is pretty heavy built. If you get the clutching just right you might be able to pull the front wheels on pavement, but that's kinda pushing the limits of the golf cart. You'll definitely want a long travel front suspension!

Listen, I can't tell what kind of person you are. If you are the kind that puts a 502 big block in a Vega.....then yes, get the 43hp version.
