Re: Newest Leaf Modules
Quick measurements were ~2mm x 20mm, which makes its cross sectional area somewhere between 2ga and 1ga wire.

Re: Newest Leaf Modules
Should be fine for a short run between batteries. I plan to use it.

Re: Newest Leaf Modules
Keep scanning Fleabay. That's where I found mine after a tip from this forum. They are not going to be plentyful - each crashed Nissan Leaf only yields for of them I believe.

I just saw your message that you sent me. I’m sure there are other sellers but bumblebee batteries on eBay seems to get them fairly regular. The problem is the 7P packs are the most limited in quantity so they diner come available as often. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Re: Newest Leaf Modules
Availability problem for sure. Each crashed Leaf only yields four of these 7S3P modules and we need two of them for a cart.

Re: Newest Leaf Modules
Coming from 5 year old FLA batteries, these lithium packs pull amazingly well. I know this is a known advantage, but I'm still surprised at how much the limited voltage sag has a noticeable positive effect on acceleration.
The cells were pretty well balanced upon initial connections at around 3.83V. I wish the bus bar would allow the batteries to be "stacked" and not need to be placed side by side with respect to the rod assemblies. I made do by installing the rods vertical, but a part of me thinks it may have been better to install stacked and use cabling in lieu of the bus bar. I never asked, but it seems like the modules are already pre-packaged and don't need any particular compression. I have them snug to the bottom of the box with nuts and have another nut on top of the lid for threaded rod stability. I followed Sergio's build with the generic BMS, and all works well! Hopefully I get a chance to test the range soon. |

Re: Newest Leaf Modules
Side by side works better for me. I am still working on my mounting scheme. I have some plastic tubing that I plan to slip over 1/4 inch threaded rod to mount the modules to my baseplate. I plan to remove the battery tray from the cart to clean it up and then I will install plates in the openings in the tray. I will mount the batteries to the plates. My BMS boards will sit on top of the batteries with a plexi cover over the whole thing.

Re: Newest Leaf Modules
That should work well too. I may swap to a plexiglass top just to keep an eye on things.
