yes thereis a serial number on it and ruffly a date on it. look on the fan side of the engine you should see 2 white stickers. one will have a bar code and some numbers like fe350 as10 some thing like that, that isthe model number sticker. thereis also a epa sticker on it with a bunch of mumbo jumbo. this will or should have the dom or date of manufacture. you will notice this cause it has the kawaski name.logo onit. both are on the fan side, and should both be on the black metal housing, the black plastic if you have it is a club car part.
ill try to post some pic on here if phone is working wth me tonight!

the photo with the bar code is the model number of the engine. the pic without the bar code is the epa label. it has the date of manufacture on it. as long as other info. the epa sticker is on the fan side at ruffly the 1 to 2 oclock postion. the model number is on the face at ruffly the 10 oclock postion. hope this helps.

Welcome to BGW rhinodad!

This is just a guess... but, most likely you have an FE290,
They were the most common from 92 to 96 (counter clockwise rotation)

The counter clockwise FE350 was only used in a few select carts in 95 and 96, and are "few and far between"
then the rotation changes to clockwise in 97.

I was told that there is a casting of the engine size on the back, top of the crankcase, somewhere below the starter/generator.
But, I have yet to find it on my 07 FE350, nor, have I seen it on my buddies 94 FE290!

I may not have been much help, but, let us know what you find, if you find it!

I'm glad you found it, and thanks for the follow up! (after 7 years, I finally know where to look now!)

And no... they don't cast, or stamp the serial number on their engines,
they only put it on the tag, and attach it to the engine shroud at final assembly. (which you don't have)
You don't really need the serial number anyways, all you is the need the model number to get the proper parts for it.

But at least now you know that you have a counter clockwise FE290, built between 1992 and 1996!

Now... get yourself a carburetor and get that HD-CC running!

Oh yeah... Don't forget... Here at BGW, We love pics!

wow...that decal would have made life much easier.....

i know the 290 is the cc,s..... what is the fe...does that mean its a counter clockwise motor??????
or does the F mean forward facing cylinder and the E mean cc motor.....
sorry for all the questions....just trying to figure it all out.....

and i will get some picts up soon.............:)

Don't worry about what the FE stands for... Kawasaki makes a bunch of different engines, for different applications,
but, just remember the FE and rotation when getting parts!
