Dead 36V PDS
I am not very versed in EZ as CC and I need some help trying to help a friend fix his cart. I believe it is a PDS...the controller doesnt have the speed chip on it. Anyway the batteries are good, reading 38V but solenoid doesnt get power when pedal is pressed and rear buzzer doesnt even work which makes me wonder if it is a controller issue. The guy was having a problem with his cart charging and someone told him that the contacts where charger plugs in were worn. He replaced the contacts but I doubt he put the cart in Tow to do it. I checked microswitch in pedal box and it works, key switch works and I believe thats all there is before the solenoid opens up. However Im pretty sure solenoid should open even if controller is bad. Small posts on solenoid are getting no voltage when pedal is pressed. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. Thanks

Re: Dead 36V PDS
He has an aftermarket charger and the reed switch wire is disconnected for some reason. But I believe that the reed switch is normally open in which case that wire would not cause an issue....correct me if im wrong. I thought the contacts closed when charger handle is inserted.

Re: Dead 36V PDS
The small 3rd wire at the receptacle needs to be connected to 36v + to energize the solenoid activation circuit. It can be run to the battery main + or the charge receptacle

You have to have battery pack voltage on the third (smaller) wire coming out of the charge receptacle for controller to power up. |

Here is a schematic with the solenoid activation circuit highlighted. All the wire in red have to have 36V on them to get the solenoid to click. |
