Fuse block, key switch, voltage reducer...what else?
Greetings,
Relatively new here. First and foremost, I assure everyone that I have read **** near every post/thread regarding the required components when adding additional 12v accessories. The more I read from you all, however, the more overwhelmed I become. I am hoping to tell you what my goal is, what I have ordered and then have someone confirm I am on the right track.......or not. Cart is a 2006 Yamaha G22E electric (48 volt - 6 - 8volt) I am installing; -Poly Planar MP3 amp with 3 speakers for iPhone music playing ability. -Deluxe LED headlight and taillight kit -Curtis Battery Voltage meter I want everything to be "off" when I'm not using the cart. (The Poly Planer amp comes with a dash mountable volume knob/switch that powers off the unit when you are not using it.) I have purchased a 30amp 48v voltage reducer and a marine fuse block. My hope was to run the negative from all of my accessories to the fuse block and the power for all of them to the key switch. But then....I have also read about relays, and/or negative blocks mounted by the battery pack, etc, etc. Based on what I have ordered (fuse block and voltage reducer), is there an additional relay or block or switch I should also be thinking of or should I be ready to begin my wiring project when everything arrives? Sorry for length......was hoping to be clear so that I can receive good feedback. Appreciate all of you. |

I would use a small relay powered by the keyswitch to turn the dc convertor on and off, you dont want to run all positive stuff through the keyswitch (it is on a 3amp fuse anyway).
