Yamaha G16 jerks when accelerating
I am new to this forum and golf carts and know very little about them. I just purchased a yamaha g16 and am having some trouble with it. When I step on the accelerator the cart jerks hard at first then after the initial jerk it accelerates and runs just fine. This is happening in forward and reverse. I checked all connections and everything seems ok. The batteries were tested and are in good shape. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks.

Re: Yamaha G16 jerks when accelerating
Look at the controller under the seat...the big box in front of the batteries...is it grey or blue and white?

Re: Yamaha G16 jerks when accelerating
I think this is my problem. I tested according to the doc you posted and the needle was jumping all over the place. I will order the new throttle sensor today and will respond once I get and install it. Thanks a lot for the help camaroluvz28.

Re: Yamaha G16 jerks when accelerating
No go on the throttle sensor. What is my next step? Control box? Is there a way to have the control box tested?

Re: Yamaha G16 jerks when accelerating
Thanks for posting the test procedures. Where is the TPS connector located? I'de like to try the test on my Yamaha Drive since it has a jerky start.

Re: Yamaha G16 jerks when accelerating
Sorry chop lost track of this thread till now...sorry to hear that wasnt the issue...I'll try and post some more test proc when I get back to shop...and tom the most common cause for a jumpy start on the Drive is due to the speed sensor located on the end of your motor...make sure it is plugged into the three pin connector from your wiring harness...
