Re: increase horse power for 9 horse
a 350 head will actually produce less power than the 295 head because it has a bigger combustion chamber and would lower the compression ratio. I dont think there is much that can be done to a 295 to bump it up, the 350 on the other hand can produce more power if you put a 295 head on it to raise the compression ratio and I am currently building one of these for my cart.

Re: increase horse power for 9 horse
I have good news since you do have the 350 and 295. You will get significant power gain from combining the 295 head to the 350 block. I have the conversion in my cart and love it. For the money it's the cheapest power gain you can get. All the stock parts will work. You need to use the 350 carb for the larger jet but other than that it's easy to do. My engine block had to be bored out so my comp. is around 255 per cyl... There are others out there that will tell you that aftermarket valves and springs are necessary but my engine is all stock. The only thing I added was an MSD ignition box to bypass the rev. limiter. The only reason for this was my low end rpm's would cause my rev. limiter to kick in because of the shorter belt I was using3. The engine runs perfect and the power is awesome just for some spare parts.
