Default kawasaki engine rpm

Does anyone know the max rpm the kawasaki engine will handle? I have a 2009 sport 2 and it seems to have lost a little speed since new. Love the engine. It has never gave any trouble plenty of pulling power but would like to adjust the governer a little for more speed. It is sill under warranty so I dont want to get to carried away. Does anybody know if the engine has a built in rev limiter? Would 4000 grand be to much?

The manual says the engine is a fj400-d and you have to adjust valves on this one. So you guess the rpm range would be about the same on the two engines. It said the fe400 is fine at 4000 grand. I have the golf cart service manual but it tells little about the engine, just service and maintenance on the carb&valve adjustment. Not as good as just a engine service manual. You think it would least tell the engine specifications.

with the Kawasaki Engine, unlike the Robin, the ignition will continue to produce spark as far as you wanna go where the original Robins can not.
In other words, be careful because it's a go or blow design... no safety as far as sending the piston where the sun don't shine.
the top speed, according to an EZGO dealer mechanic is 27mph on a flat... 30mph it explodes... retard tested and not dealer approved.
The Robin engines rev up to about 4,800rpm but are 2 cyl.

Hello Madman,

What you call exploding will be caused by the floating valves and lack of oil in the connecting rod on the cranck.

Build in a bearing and stiffer valvesprings and it will go over 6000.
Honda GX with splash lubrication build over to centrifugal go far over 7000.
In that case there isn,t the releabillity left of a basic engine
(Every 60 to 100 hours a build over)
