Re: For what it's worth...don't go over 30MPH
Hey geoff...
My thinking is that in accordance with ICON literature batt pack cables are 4 gauge..which sounds like that should be ample... Yet are they really for the extra perfomance level desired by ICON owners seeking more get up and go plus top end?? Maybe Atrain could chime in here on this Best wishes friend Happy cartin |

Re: For what it's worth...don't go over 30MPH
So... I went for about a 4 mile ride today. Last charge wasn't long ago, wasn't dead but could've had more juice. Indicator was at 100% starting out. 2 miles to the destination, 2 miles back. This was my first longer trip since upping FWD MAX to 7000. The road there was flat, lots of turns, lots of stop signs. I was full throttle a few times, maybe a block or two each time. By the end of my trip there, so about the end of mile 2, it started jerking a bit and powering down. Battery at about 80% or so and about 31 volts. This reminded me about the day I took delivery, it wasn't fully charged and shut down on me at about 50% battery. Very similar behavior.
Got to destination, ate lunch (about an hour). Got back in and started out fine. A few blocks down the road started jerking again. The remainder of the ride, about a mile and a half, it struggled to get to 15 mph. Battery quickly fell to about 80% again and 31 volts. Crawled home between 14-16 mph. Didn't have the pedal fully down but tried a couple of times, didn't change anything. Do you think this is a battery issue? An I fried my controller or motor or both issue? Or I messed with the settings issue? Or all of the above? |

Re: For what it's worth...don't go over 30MPH
Perhaps and undersized battery pack amp hour capacity...I have seen
new ICONS delivered with 160ah packs....which will give very poor range and wear out quicker... Also perhaps not charging to full capacity of battery pack... I have been noticing this problem from a number of ICON lifted carts... One sure thing is that the delta q charger is common to all ICON carts...and may well be undercharging the battery pack..yet soc showing 100% with volts at about 51... In my "hood" there are now 7 ICONS..and the ones I'm am most familiar with only show 51.5 or so full pack charge.. In my case ...because I am running Crown agm 6 crv 260ah...I had to get a charger that was special profiled for my agms./ With my Eagle Pro... 4818i charger ...my pack charges to 53.3-53.7 volts consistently. So between my previous cart and my ICON I40..they now have over 5500 driven miles and on their 21st month of use....range vs soc amazingly outstanding..go 40 miles with soc not dipping below 70% So 2 things come to mind: 1)Battery pack under capacity (came with your cart that way) 2) The delta q is not charging fully or properly not just on your cart but on numerous other ones as well. Understanding though...this just my .02 observation...and could be wrong...yet this is what I see from reading the posts Best wishes friend for a good quick resolve Happy cartin' |

Re: For what it's worth...don't go over 30MPH
Oops..I forgot to address your question:
By running the battery pack down 80% is killing off your battery pack prematurely.. Best to charge up overnight...take battery voltage reading... I am not sure if the delta q charger has a battery pack "balance - equalization" feature...if it does ...then fully charge the pack then activate the "balance - equalization" ...please do not run your cart right after charging..wait over night again for things to settle out.. Hopefully with this your battery pack will recover... This is more a topic question for JohnnieB or ScottyB |

Re: For what it's worth...don't go over 30MPH
Thanks Carts. I should also mention that before the settings change I have never had a problem with this exact same route. So I guess either the charge was lower than I thought before I left or the settings changes had something to do with it. Or I damaged the motor or controller. Or something happened to the pack between now and then. It's on the charger now, going to hop back on in a bit.

Stano don't rush getting back on the cart ...give the battery pack time
to settle after charging...un plug charger and then re plug the charger after a few seconds ...let the charger finish doing it's thing... Hopefully this will help recover your battery pack... Best wishes friend |

Re: For what it's worth...don't go over 30MPH
Hey Carts, yeah I let it charge over night and seems to be fine now. I think/hope it was just a low battery. If that's the case my cluster is off - was showing 80% charge at the time the thing was dying.

Re: For what it's worth...don't go over 30MPH
Again thanks Stano..
With 8x6 volt agms the battery pack will be 53.9 to 54 volts from the cluster volt meter but from my ScottyB voltmeter reading direct from pack..53.3 - 53.7 volts after overnite charge. You might want to get one of these from ScottyB https://www.cartsunlimited.net/battery-meters.html Here is a picture of mine..installed https://buggiesgonewild.com/attachme...1&d=1616702377 Best wishes friend Happy Cartin' |
