Planet Electric 120v cart motor
I have a Planet Electric 120v cart that I have decided to pull apart and use the good stuff to build something else. The controller is Curtis 72-120v. I pulled the body off today and got my first look at the motor (pic attached). I am certain this is the original motor, but the 36 volt rating is confusing to me. Does nayone know what the "banded" means? And would this be what allowed the motor to be run at 120 volts? Thanks.

Banded means the guts of the motor have a covering so where if it is over revved, the banding keeps the motor parts out of your butt.

Re: Planet Electric 120v cart motor
Thanks for the answer. I kind of thought it might be something like that, but externally the motor looks exactly like every other EZGO series motor I have.
It seems strange to me that a 120 volt cart would have a 36 volt motor in it. I'm aware you can use higher voltages with the motors, but I didn't think you could go that high. |
