Re: InfiniteReality's '99 Lowered EZGO TXT Build
Got a good bit accomplished today.
- Plastic welded the backside of the plug for the holes. - Cut the holes for the taillights finally. - Some more random bondo and sanding. - Scuffed entire body again to make sure I got all areas. - Plastic welded the previous speakers screw holes, top and bottom. - Built a paint rack out of spare 2x4s to secure the body and nose to. I rarely mess with wood, not my thing, but this was kind of fun to wing it as I built. Stole the wheels off a small HF dolly so I can roll it. And if I ever paint it or another TXT, I'll be ready. - Since body is now stacked, it's only 4ft square which gives me 3ft on each side under the $45 10x10 popup canopy I bought on Amazon Returns. Also picked up visqueen to wrap around and use an old fan to exhaust. Will put this together tomorrow night. - Pressure washed frame which should make it a little cleaner to run all my wires this weekend. - Cleaned up floor mat so didn't have to buy a new one. Now that I have a good look at the motor and rear end, I definitely would like to POR-15 the rert end black and pull the motor to paint it orange. I've always had the idea in the back of my mind to bend some Lexan to replace the access cover. Or maybe cut a window into the stock cover and replace with Lexan. It'll already be disconnected since I'm replacing all 22yr old cables with 2ga, plus the body is off so now's the time. Shooting for have it back in the road by next weekend. I may be just dreaming, there's a ton more to do. |

Re: InfiniteReality's '99 Lowered EZGO TXT Build
Taking forever to get some color put on, but tomorrow it should happen...at least primer. I'll finish my booth in the morning and mount some filters and exhaust fan.
Picked up my powdercoated parts today. Excited to see illusion orange on my tank, door sills and basket. Not really a fan of the basket but I think it'll come in handy carrying random stuff when needed for my 2yr old. Roof supports, including the huge front one were done in gloss black. Kicking ideas around for shop logo on the air tank. |

Best way to check your body work. Once you have it in primer.
Hose the cart off with water. This will make body shiny as if it was painted showing up any imperfections that would be noticeable after paint. Be sure to allow primer to dry out well so no moisture in it before sealing it up with paint. Carts looking good 👍 |

Re: InfiniteReality's '99 Lowered EZGO TXT Build
Paint is far from perfect, but this experiment was never about perfection....just a first hand learning experience in paint and body. Of course a wet sand and polish will happen, just not until cart is done.....tired if sanding!
While I'm sharing pics, here's a leak of the wheels and tires, as well as the accent color with the painted cart. Wednesday starts the part I've been looking forward to, wiring. Last but not least, yet more 3D modeling. Discovered they make a steering column mount cover for newer TXT but didn't find anything for older 3-bolt so what the heck I need more modeling experience. This fits flush against the floor and only covers the mounting bolts. I'll attempt to extend it to the actual column, although will be more involved.. but hey, it's a learning experience. |

Re: InfiniteReality's '99 Lowered EZGO TXT Build
Got my panel built, safety first, lol. Constant 12v, ignition 12v (40a relay) and both fuse blocks have individual grounds since I'll have to run them for my accessories. Of course spare circuits for future.
Now I can actually run some wire and start hooking up all my goodies. And I know some will baulk at the sound dampening due to weight, but had some laying around and figured the thin metal floor may could benefit. I'll probably also put a little behind where the speakers will be mounted. |

Re: InfiniteReality's '99 Lowered EZGO TXT Build
For the panel I built today here's a short run down on all individual components that is getting installed.
Android screen Front lift solenoid Front lower solenoid Rear lift solenoid Rear lower solenoid Dual readout pressure gauge 2 pressure sensors Speaker wire for 4 speakers Air compressor Air tank pressure switch Compressor on/off switch 36v battery meter 12v battery meter USB port(s) Headlights Taillights Daytime running lights, Air horn solenoid Turn signals Brake switch Ignition key To simplify how many cables I have to run, I'll run a 12v and ignition 12v to terminal strips inside the dash. Plus the lighting and street legal came with it's own harness, just want to replace the plastic loom with braided split loom since looks nicer. All in, will be around 20 wires total I have to run front to rear, rear to front. After that's done, I still have to run tubing to manifold, 4 solenoids, 4 air shocks and train horns. |

Re: InfiniteReality's '99 Lowered EZGO TXT Build
As I was laying out all this stuff I'm fixing to wire up on paper, there's going to be alot if wires running front to back of this cart. Other than the power, Ignition and ground there's a ton of signal wires. Had to order some larger terminal strips, but have a day off tomorrow so will get as far as I can till strips show up Saturday. To do list is:
Paint cart roof Drill out holes and install rivet nuts (next time I pull body will be simple) Run 22 wires front to back Run tubing Terminal panel under dash with 36v relay, Fit screen and lower/lift panel. Also need to work on suspension for more shock travel, but that'll be last since can do it after body is on. Hopefully will get a chunk done, then can focus on the bag well area and mounting tank, compressor, manifold/solenoids. Then and only then, finally start connecting everything. |
