Default Voltage Reducer & Aux 12V Battery?

Im about to install a voltage reducer on my cart, while im at it I will be rewiring the headlights and taillights as well as installing additional relays and switches for future mods.

Im curious if anybody has ever wired the discharge of a voltage reducer directly to a aux 12V battery then hooked all the accessories to the battery. Basically the reducer would be the charger for the aux battery.

Im asking because I have a spare 12V 12ah battery not being used and before I design my electrical layout id like to see if I should include the battery or not.

The output voltage of a DC converter is not high enough to charge a 12 volt battery.

Why not? 12v ahoukdnhelp it out. He could always switch to a 16v reducer and charger that way
