99 ds regen2 speed control checking?
so i recently picked up a 99ds and it worked fine every day for 2 weeks.
then i went on a trip, come back, and its dead in the water so im looking at the wire diagram and its helpful but i still don't know what voltages im supposed to see and when. solenoids both hit and open and close the circuit so i think they are ok when i apply the go pedal the cart has a slight vibration for maybe a full second then nothing....like it wants to move then doesn't. i suspect the speed control is bad but i cant confirm that. a system description or procedure to confirm my suspicion is what i need. don't wanna drop 300-400 bucks just to find out its something else. Thanks in advance |

"...when i apply the go pedal the cart has a slight vibration for maybe a

Note the standing voltage and then watch the meter as you try to go. What does it drop to? Regen 2 was not used for long and it is not a popular drive system. Parts are expensive and rare. Best to sell this one and find something else. |

Re: 99 ds regen2 speed control checking?
pack voltage is 50.7 give or take.
state of chage isnt the issue. ive checked the obvious already if you are trying to be a smartass keep it to yourself i just wanna fix it not get in a pissing contest on the web. i may be new to this cart and forum but im not new to circuits and motors. thanks scottyb ill check the pack voltage under load. is there a low voltage cutoff where the cart wont go if the pack voltage drops to a certain point? |

Now there are a few folks that can give you a couple of test that will pin point the problem rather quickly, I can offer the PDF files and you can search the trouble shooting steps on your own, Tip: a serial number and some pictures would move this along also,...and of course this is just my opinion |

Re: 99 ds regen2 speed control checking?
It appears he has a Sepex (Regen 2) per the topic heading. So I will assume you have a rocker switch for fwd/rev and a run/tow switch...not a big lever. Batteries "can" do this (although more common on a series cart) but its easy to test. Put your voltmeter on each battery (one at a time) and hit-the-gas! If one or two takes a dive in voltage, you have a good lead. Obviously the power-on circuit seems to be working if the cart tries to move. The next is a poor/corroded connection. Go over all the battery/motor connections and all the little connectors you can find to see if one is just holding by a few strands (even give them a little tug). If they look suspect - clean 'em up & refit.
Your next area to look is the accelerator components - Regen 2 likely has a multi-step potentiometer. Trouble is - you often experience "signs" that this device is failing before it does (but not always). There is a good article HERE on a lot of troubleshooting tips for Regen 2. Lastly - there is a wiring diagram for your cart in the above "stickies" called Club Car DS Regen 1999-2002 Wiring . If you have a Regen cart - that diagram should match up. |

Also could it be the OBC lockout causing the problem? since it was sitting for a period and could cycling the OBC through a charge cycle and then unplugging it reset this and if there is a bad battery would this make it run for a short period and then give us more info. Sorry to have offended your intelligence |
