99 club Car no "slow" speed
finished putting fe400 engine in 1999 CC. Everything turned out great but it will not go at slow speeds. after you hit the governor you can slowly ease off the gas and it will go slow, but you cannot go slow from the start. any ideas ?

Take the cover off the control box and take a look at the accelerator
cable adjustment. Sounds like someone adjusted it too much, causing the carb to be opened too much when the engine starts cranking over. If this is the case, put some of the cable 'back inside' the control box. Loosen the 2 10 mm nuts that holds the cable and 'tighten' it back inside. You can play with it a little at a time until you get it right where you want it. |

Re: 99 club Car no "slow" speed
Thanks Big Bump, It was the cable. I believe the person that owned it before me must have tried to get more speed. The nuts that hold it in place were so loose. tightened them up and it was ready to go.
Thanks Rusty for bumping me to the top of the list.... Now I have to put the lift kit on.... |
