Re: Yamaha g9 build
I made my lift myself long ago, I used kart wheels they are douglas alum wheels 8x8 with a 3+5 offset. Stock wheels are 3.5/3.5 no offset. With 22s its fine I did have to cut the rockers off at the rear and I did move my front arms forward the width of the arm mounts. I would not drive a cart without offset wheels or spacers and 22 tires, not stable. Project looking great, I really want to do my seat soon too that looks great.

Re: Yamaha g9 build
I'm picking back up on this project cart I started a few years ago. Cart ran fine when parked. I drained out old gas from fuel tank. Removed and cleaned the carburetor. Replaced the battery and change battery cable ends. The cart is turning over fine but the solenoid is rapidly clicking at times like a bad connection but still cranks the starter fine. Engine will not start except for the occasional sputter or backfire.
Removed the spark plug and it's wet from fuel. Acts like it has no spark. Checked for spark with plug removed and there is good blue spark however it seems kind of erratic and random. Not very consistent with rpm. I also adjusted the valves to .004 lash at TDC. So I've got fuel, I've got spark (possibly erratic), I've got good compression. Any ideas? Possibly bad ignition module? Could the solenoid possible be an issue? |

Re: Yamaha g9 build
Oh yeah, I did that. Grounds were one of the first things I started checking. Lol. It ended up being the voltage regulator. After I got it running good, the engine wouldn't shut off when letting off the peddle. Unplugged the VR and it worked completely normal. I guess something must have been bacekfeeding keeping solenoid latched.
Thank you for the advice. I appreciate it. |
