Can you just put large tires on stock rims?

I bought 19x8x8 atv tires for my cart. Inflated to 32 psi they are more like 21-21.5 inches tall. Works fine with stock ride height, and ride very well.

I should have stated that those are 22x11x8's

But let me tell you, I had a hard time mounting those little 8'' tires. Not much give in the bead.
I actually bent one of the beads installing them and now have a small wobble in that tire.

Yes the 22" tires on 8" rims are common, but you will probably need some wheel spacers to make them clear the wheel wells, springs, brake cables etc on the rear.

HF offers a manual tire change stand. Buy the extra tire spoon they offer too.
I've used mine for a long time on all size tires. I found tire magic works as a lube in place of soap. Comes in a spray bottle - easy to apply where you need it. A vice grip clamped on the rim can stop the tire from sliding past and make the second bead easy to mount on stiff tires.

Yeah, I saw that too. Most of those "balloon" tires are marked for 5 or 8 psi.

I had to play with my air pressure to make the cart handle right.

too much air and it would bounce!
too little and it was squirrely in curves, to much side wall give.

17-18 psi works good on my set up. 22x11x8 turf tires

If you plan to put the tires on the rims yourself then be prepaired for a lot of cussing and in the end you will wish you bought the rims w/ tires.

I helped my dad do his lawn mower tires a few years back and around the time were driving a truck on the tire to try and break the inner bead we realized that he should have sprung the extra $80 for the tires already on rims.

Take the tires to a shop to have them mounted, these little tires are a nightmare to un-install & install. Hence the reason why most hardware stores sell lawn mower tires pre-mounted on rims!
