Default Replaced input shaft bearings 06 TXT

Replaced the input shaft bearings today which did not seem to be bad but since I had it apart........Inspected the input shaft and the gear it rides on, both seem fine as did the motor spline. Still have a noise and a little slop? Perhaps this is normal?

What weight oil are you running in the gear case? Also, check the outer axle bearings. Sounds can be deceiving

There's one bearing in the motor. If you still have noise with new input and axle bearings then that's probably the bad one. The motor bearing is under $10 on ebay.

its the motor bearing.

that bearing sits right behind the brushes. that brush dust gets into the bearing and destroys it. I uses axle bearing at the shop I worked at. Never had an issue and they were cheaper than the actual motor bearing. they were the same size and shape. diff was seal color.

How difficult is it to change the motor bearing? I wish I had done that while the motor was out......

Mine wasn't too hard at all. It was the only one that needed heat - I used a heat gun - but instructions are in the manual in the stickies. It takes more time to remove cables and drop the motor than it does to replace the bearing, and it gives you a chance to inspect the brushes, which are a wear item.
