Default 42 volts 7 batteries

i have a 96 ezgo lifted on 22s with a 300 amp controller, i added a seventh battery to my 36 volt cart to make it 42 volts today...will this hurt my motor or controller? i dont want to do any harm just for some more play time, thanks guys i love this site

Only thing it might hurt is the solenoid which is probably for 36v. Do you have a 42v charger?

Can very possibly hurt the controller. Your 36 volt charger wont charge it either. It wont hurt the motor at all. That being said...I've done the 42 volt thing but there is always a chance it will burn it up. Some will work, others fry. If your lucky it will go into overvoltage shutdown or it will work....some will, some wont. Worst case it'll smoke. If its not the stock controller and will handle 48 volts then no problem.

will my charger not charge it...ive had it hooked up for a few hour and it shows that it charges is it really not charging???

Your 36v charger will never fully charge a 42v pack.

Keep your charger connected to the original 6 and use a seperate 6v charger on the odd one ....
