G1 exhaust loud and runs poorly
Hi,
Newbie here and to golf carts. Bought an older G1 that runs when choked or choked partial... VERY loud and runs rough. Any help here? Does exhaust leak at/around engine affect running? How does exhaust seal there? Vktim |

Re: G1 exhaust loud and runs poorly
are you sure there is a muffler on it? lol
not having a good seal would cause problem in that it wouldn't have enough back pressure, and could cause havoc on your valves (either burn them up or gunk them up, don't remember, plus it's late) if there is a muffler, and it is a matter of just being sealed, take it off and put a new gasket in |

Re: G1 exhaust loud and runs poorly
It will run with no exhaust, but likely have no power. G1 is a two stroke it needs to exhaust to run properly but doubt it would hurt it. Start by cleaning and sealing up the airbox/hose/carb & connections and exhaust. It could have an internal problem hard to say. Could have blown crank seals they need choke and hardly will run with those bad. Can be done in the cart.

Re: G1 exhaust loud and runs poorly
yes a rusted out or missing 2 stroke muffler will cause no power and hearing problems.

Re: G1 exhaust loud and runs poorly
There is a fiber gasket between the cylinder head and the exhaust flange. There are two rings like piston rings on the flange to seal the joint going into the muffler. The gasket may be blown out or the rings stuck/broken/missing. You will have to take it apart and see.
Have you taken the carb apart to clean it and see if that is your running problem? Having a leaky or noisy exhaust is not going to affect starting much. Leaky crankcase seals are a likely possibility also. |

Re: G1 exhaust loud and runs poorly
Hey thanks.
I've looked all over net and can't seem to find where/how to buy these rings. I do believe this is where the leak/noise is coming from. Any leads to where to buy? Vktim |

Figure out what you need. Yami dealers are not bad either, at least mine isn't. |
