Default Need your opinions

93 Marathon:series, 36v,2hp stock motor,275 amp stock curtis controller, 22" tires w/ 6" lift.
Am now ready to upgrade performance. The cart is for working around the ranch, need good torque and a liitle speed increase. Currently only 12mph, would like to get 15 to 18 mph.
Any suggestions as far as motor brand and ratio? controller size?
Which is better EMP, D&D, Plum Quick, GE?
What combination of motor and controller works well and is dependable?

Are you sure about your current MPH? On 22's those numbers seem a little shy of what you should be getting.

OK, then that makes some sense. With a good pack, and a 400A controller I think that would get you where you want to be.

Just the controller? You wouldnt go to bigger motor also? Or would just changing the controller do the trick?

Ahh,, that's the beauty of it. Go with the controller first. Make sure it is 48v compatible. If you don't like the performance, then you can still add voltage for more speed and for torque a new motor on down the road.
You said you wanted more torque and ~15-18mph. 36v on 22's with a 400A controller should get you that along with improved torque.

At 2750rpm/12.44 ratio/22"dia = 14.5 mph
At 3150rpm/12.44 ratio/22"dia = 16.6 mph

FNR should hold up just fine at 36v and 400A. You could upgrade the buss bars. It won't hurt. I'd change all 6ga cables to 4ga.

One more question:
Since Im getting a new pack this weekend, I thought I would keep two of my best old batts and do the 48v conversion. My question is what all do I need?
I know I need new controller, new 4 gage wire, hd buss bar, what i cant figure out is which solenoid, diode and resistor to buy.
