GX390/Predator420/VC460 timing key question
Are the timing keys for the GX390 the same as the GX200? On the NR site, they seem to be the same "Key, Timing, Offset, GX Hondas, 6.5 to 15 hp Chinese OHV, & Predator" but everywhere else it seems they only list them for GX200 and other 6.5 clones.

Re: GX390/Predator420/VC460 timing key question
The heavier big block flywheel have a much greater tendency to shear the timing key. The off set keys have much less material strength due the machining.Hence most racing outlets recommend other means to manage timing advances. The early 440&460"s came with a stock and advance timing keys. In fact since I never pulled the flywheel off I don't know which timing key is installed in my 2014 VC assembled engine.

Re: GX390/Predator420/VC460 timing key question
Every time I put an offset key on my 440/460 it would shear. In fact, I think that's why it stopped running this last time, it was frustrating. I lapped the crank and flywheel, new nut, and impact to tighten it. It seems like it happens on decel with a backfire.

You would be better off trying this if you want to advance your timing.

Re: GX390/Predator420/VC460 timing key question
I have bought and installed the Vegas timing bracket, but have not ran the engine yet. I was just curious about the timing key differences.

Re: GX390/Predator420/VC460 timing key question
The timing bracket from VC seems to work ok. Currently have it set to 6 degrees advance.
