Sounds like a clutch problem. When you stop is the engine clutch all the way open and the belt just laying in it? The belt needs to be 1" wide for a stock cart and more lifted, they are 1 3/16 new....if worn replace. Take the cover off the drive (primary) clutch and clean it, lube the pins that swing with light lube, check them for operation, put a couple shots of grease in the zerk at edge and check for extra lube clean it up. Rear grease that too on the back side, check the ramps and pucks on ramps.

yup sounds like clutch issues, at rest you belt should be at the bottom of the first clutch and at the top of the 2nd clutch, also the primary (first) clutch should slide in and out freely, by hand.

Cleaned clutch, some old grease and dust build up inside cover seemed to be catching on weights as it goes foward onto belt could this be problem? also checked belt 1"1/8,did compresion test 128 psi, went to try it throtle cable from peddle broke , could the cable stretching and not opening the govenor properley also cause lack of power?. waiting for new cable. thanks for your help.

Most cables just break but hard to say. The clutches have to work right and be clean or you don't get your 9HP, don't forget that. Lots of people think the engine has a problem when its the clutches not transferring the power correctly or allowing the right rpm. If a G9 also check the tension cable under the generator pulley if its broke/gone takeoff is not as good. Too tight you lose top speed, they are easiest to set with a hand gps.

128 psi is low for a g2/9. they are 175psi out of the factory. cables break not strech too mutch.

That is low, but all the ones I've seen the oil ring blew before it ran that bad..they just lose power when hot before the oil ring goes. The G2 has highest compression and it gets progressively lower as the models get newer. G2 is like 195 new or something like that, and 20lb less for G9. That is what dealer told me here, newer carts even lower that is why they made newer ones larger displacement but same power, until the Drive. I've never seen one not blowing oil smoke that didn't run fairly well until it got hot and even then it was not that bad...but hard to say. A clutch problem will bog it right out on a hill, rpm will get low and it should not. Also check the tension cable under the gen pulley, if a motor mount breaks and that cable is not there, the engine will pull over to the clutch and loosen the belt and screw the shifting all up.
