Default Bad boy 48v lithium upgrade 4x4 - help needed

I just ordered (2) Alltrax XCT-48500-BBB for my 2011 bad boy xto.

I have a 48v system and would like a drop in lithium battery. Is this possible? Do I need something besides the battery and new charger?

Which would you recommend. I would like 1 big battery not a bunch of smaller ones. I will modify the storage area once I get the battery.

I also have 2 new 500a solenoids.

I have looked at eco, allied and Roypow threads on this forum. Still can't decide. Leaning towards allied.

Thanks for the help.

You are going to need a powerful battery if you want to use the cart in 4wd. Or you'll have to dial back the current limits in both controllers to prevent exceeding the battery limits.

Powerful is very subjective.

Is this considered powerful

Thanks

What's the maximum battery current the controller can draw? Now multiply that by two. This is your worst case maximum current draw requirement.

Wouldn't surprise me if thats 500+ amps.

That allied is 180 amps continuous, and some higher time limited ratings. So depending how you drive the cart you can probably exceed the BMS limits.

Thank you.

I am learning a lot. I still want to investigate the lithium route but looks like i might just chug along with this FLA for a while longer.

Looks like for the XCT48500 peak is (5& 2mins)500 amps and continuous is 250 amps.

Right now i have TROJAN T-105 6V/225AH 6 VOLT GOLF CART BATTERY (8 PACK, 48V)

To get the kind of current ratings you need at a reasonable price, you'd probably need to build your own battery from used EV modules.

Otherwise, I'd be looking at the 6 unit epoch batteries. They are gc2 size, so will fit into your tray without modifications. 360amps continuous. And if that isn't enough, you can add 2 more units for 480 amps continuous. Big $$$$ though...

Alltrax just emailed me back and said I can adjust the controllers by changing a couple settings so they don't try and pull too much from the pack.

So with that said. I guess i can just get any lithium battery i want. But yes the stronger the better.

POWER...(but within my budget)

Thanks

You should try reducing the power limits now to what you think the future lithium battery can supply. Then you can see if you still have enough performance for your use cases.
