1994.5 ezgo battery hold down question
I have a 1994.5 ezgo 36v. It came with no battery hold down of any kind. I ordered what I thought was the oem tie down.
Judging by the rust and design I'd assume it is stock. Anyway, I looked underneath and I can't for the life of me figure out how it would ever mount, no tabs or holes. Only holes are on the far sides of the battery tray. It would basically make the oem parts useless. Did I get the wrong hold down or did the previous owner put a new tray in. (Doubtful) |

That looks like the correct part. Perhaps someone cut the tabs off or the rusted away? Search for a battery tray to get a hoot look. Here's the hold down on the batts

The circled bracket welded to the center support of the battery box frame is one of the two that the bottom of the rods you have attach to.

Here's a pic of a new rack with those tabs
And here's my rack I just built and I made 2 tabs to put on it If you have enough room you might be able to drill some holes and use long j-hooks if your tabs are gone. That's how my old rack was done because the tabs were rusted and cut off by previous owner |

Nick here is a photo of my 95 Medalist during tear down. I wish I could blow it up better for you to see, however It has no tabs. The holes were drilled in the metal that divided the batteries front to back. Tabs would be better.

Wow thanks for the info and good pics!! I'm going to have to build a new tray anyway it seems. It's so rusted I don't know how long I can run it without dropping a battery on the road!!
Wonder what's the weight savings of aluminum vs steel? Also would the aluminum be more corrosion resistant?? |

Re: 1994.5 ezgo battery hold down question
Thats the main reason I'd think to use aluminum is because it doesn't rust like steel does. I went back with steel because I can't weld aluminum lol.
