D&D setup/runtime
I have a 2001 Club Car DS and I am on the verge of putting the 4:2a hunting buggy motor in it with all required hardware including the 500 am Alltrax.
I am concerned about how much runtime I will lose. Any idea? Also I am intrigued by the idea of changing the 48v motor to 36v? Here are some pics of the first overhaul...the second one is in progress(6" jakes, 22" mudlites). Just need some help on deciding how to power it this time around. Before After |

Re: D&D setup/runtime
If you’re going with a 500amp controller you’re going to want to go with an 11hp 48v motor, most of the aftermarket motors are 7hp @ 36v and 11hp @48v, Your run time will be cut down a little bit, because your increasing the amps by approx 50%, but you really are going to have to determine your run time loss, you have a lot of variables, weight/tire size/terrain etc.

Re: D&D setup/runtime
I ended up going with the 4:2A from D&D. Should be here by the end of the week ...pretty sure it is the 36v motor though...what is the advantage to a 48v motor?

Re: D&D setup/runtime
You will not lose much run time if any. High torque motors burn high amps at low pulling rpms and less amps at higher rpms. Where high speed motors burn high amps at high rpms. See'ins how you are using a high torque motor it will only burn amps on take off and if your climbing hills or binding up the tires causing the motor to pull more amps. Confused yet? .........lol 48 volt motor will turn more r's and have more power. But as stated above terrain will dictate if you lose alot of run time. D&D web site states that motor is 10 hp at 36 volts with 275 amps.

Re: D&D setup/runtime
Got everything installed now...I am really happy with it. I am going to try to get some wheelie pics over the next few days.
It will pull them up maybe 4 inches hard to tell while on the cart... |
