Default ezgo 90-92 gas 2cycle ignition coil check

im getting an 4.1 ohms on my primary ignition coil check, the service manual says I should be getting 3.6 to 3.8 and to replace the coil if the value is incorrect. the secondary coil checks out right in the tolerance that the manual specs.

but before I shell out 70 bucks for a new coil, ive seen on the forum that some have said that around 4.0 ohms is ok for the check. so should I replace or not?

thanks

When you short the meter leads together, what does it read for zero ohms? Subtract that value to get a true reading.

thanks, turns our blank resistance is 0.2 so its good

another question then, ive moved on to checking the pulser coil and manual says it should be:

125 to 200 ohms at hot resistance

75 ohms at cold

im getting 153 at normal room temp, hasnt been run since yesterday

any thoughts?

Hi,
I am brand new to this forum. I have been given a ezgo marathon I think and have no spark at the plug. Plug is ok, no life coming to the plug. Can anyone recommend a test procedure as the coil seems expensive. All I have done so far is remove the coil, continuity on the T lead is good, put a meter across the two wires that come out of the coil and have 4ohms.
Dont know if this reading is ok or not, what other checks can I do.
thanks
Dai

Does anyone know what the ohms reading is for an 80s 2 stroke EZGo ignition coil? I’m showing 11.6 with a lead in the plug wire hole and the other in one of the wires coming off the coil. If I put the tester in both wires it reads 0
