Default High Idle after 2bbl swap

Finally got my 2 bbl carb on my vanny 16. It idles very high and it isnt the linkage. I have 2 spacers from the intake to the elbow but I have no spacer between the carb and elbows, could that be my problem? I adjusted the 2 black knobs on top of the carb and that didnt change anything. It doesnt pop or backfire at all and didnt get hot at all.

Is the throttle shaft closing all the way? Isn't there a throttle stop adjusting screw/

Probably have an air leak. Maybe at the intake gasket. Do you have a picture of your set up? I'm also using two spacers off the intake to the 90 elbow. No problems.

Sounds like there's a vacuum leak somewhere...

With the engine idling, take a can of carb cleaner and spray around all the carb spacers, where the elbow is bolted to the manifold, and where the manifold bolts to the heads.. When the carb cleaner hits the leaky gasket, the engine idle will either change or hiccup..

Air leak was my first thought also but I got way too tired so Ill try in the morning. Did any of you guys use a spacer between the carb and any of your elbows?

The throttle shaft may be bottomed out, but the butterfly plates may not be closing all the way for some reason. They may be off center on the shaft a bit or wore one way or the other. You may have to pull the carb to check. Use a flashlight, and you should see little or no light through them when closed. The spacers should be fine.

If you take the carb out and use the flashlight From the opposite side, loosen the screws and kind of "float" the plate to where it closes the most light out as possible and slowly tighten the screws down with a very small amount of loctite.
Make sense?
