89 ez-go belt alignment
I have a 89 ez-go with a pg3 engine. Had that rebuilt and put it back in with a new belt. Took it for a short ride and could see that the belt was wearing on the engine side. Do you move the engine or the frame the engine is bolted to.Looks like its can go front to back but can it go right to left? Thanks for any help.

Re: 89 ez-go belt alignment
Depending on how ya took the engine out, and what ya changed in the engine can effect its alignment. It can go front to rear also side to side on the cradle adjustment. Also it uses washers as shims under the front and sometimes the rear to get the alignment on and twist between driven and drive. If you pulled the motor from the 4 bolts that hold the motor in it is possible that the left and right side to side alignment has changed.
Honestly the only real way to align the clutch and driven is to watch it in motion with the cart on jack stands. Then its really trial and error getting it down as close to perfect as ya can get. |
