1989 ez go electric won't go!!!!
Alright boys,
I am a gas cart guy but have an ez go electric that my daughter uses. It started having problems going but you could pound down on the accelerator and it would take off just like new. Then it was being used and everytime someone gassed it it looked like neon lights were coming from underneath it. I pulled it home and looked under it, very lightly I might say. Now if you push the pedal down it will creep along and then when you check under the seat you can feel the heat being generated by the resistors I am guessing. Somone give me some help and lead me in the right direction. |

Is it a resistor car or controller ? You description is a resistor cart. First is the solenoid clicking ? second look at the contact board, if you took it off road or bumpy area, the board my have shifted causing the wiper arm and contact board to shift out of alignment. Start there along with check all the wire connectors, including the motor.

it is a resistor cart. The cart does go everywhere my tom boy daughter thinks she needs to go. It will barely go and build a lot of heat. I will check the board when I get home.

I agree with Joe. It sounds like a meltdown of the speed wiper board...... Inspect the wiper arm and stationary contacts for signs of burning, melting, or pitting ..... work on this car with the rear wheels off the ground, these ones will take off and run you over without warning at times.

The stud wiper sometimes sticks in the guide, or the stud/associated cable may need replacement. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...stor-cart.html Last edited by e-z-go1988; 07-28-2010 at 02:43 PM.. Reason: add link |

Re: 1989 ez go electric won't go!!!!
alright gentlemen I replaced the wiper arem spring loaded piece, the board also. My question is....the diode on the silanoid is broken. Thus the cart still doesnt go. I take a volt reading on the silanoid and it is 37.8. I think I wired everything back up correctly but just want to know what is the role of the diode? Can I only purchase this at a cart parts store? If not what do I ask for at an auto parts house? You guys think this is why she still wont go?

A diode is used to protect the controller, which you do not have .... could be a varistor you are looking at?
Either way the cart should run if you take it off. |

Yes, Pictures would help! Take that diode off and listen for the solenoid to click when you try to go? Yes, it's clicking?
