2011 YDR noise when braking
I changed the transaxle fluid in both my 2011 and 2013 YDR carts. Now they both are making noise when I brake a little hard right before coming to a complete stop. I used 2 qts of the Yamalube Friction Modified oil in each cart. 2011 has approx 6,000 plus miles on it and the 2013 has 6,000 plus miles on it. I only get the noise in forward and not in reverse. Any suggestions or answers as to why they are now making the noise after changing the transaxle fluid? Thanks.

Re: 2011 YDR noise when braking
I don't use the Yamaha product, but I use a racing product that I have had no issues with ever. I'd add a friction reducer to it and see if the noise goes away.

It sounds like you used the correct fluids. The manual calls for 44oz in each cart. 2 full quarts is 64oz so you may have overfilled. BUT...the manual says to add fluid until it is at or just starting to flow out of the fill plug so not sure how it could be overfilled by 20oz.

Couldnt hurt to take 2oz back out & replace with 2oz of friction modifier.

Re: 2011 YDR noise when braking
Bgonzen are your carts lifted, if so then you need to jack up the rear-end, or back it up on some ramps to get the transaxle level. This is what I do on my lifted cart. The owner’s manual says if you can’t get Yamalube, you can use an alternative lubricant in a mixture of 1.75 quarts of 80W90 Gear Oil and .10 quarts API GL-5 Limited Slip Additive. In my cart I used 56 oz of Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lube (LS 75W-90) and 3.2 oz of Trans-X Posi- Trac Additive (#402508. Good Luck.
