Sequence questions...
I have a '94 gas Club Car... It runs well and then doesn't run so well... So I am going through the electrics and mechanical stuff. I changed the oil... the air and oil filters... and spark plug.
I have replaced the ignition switch (it had no nuts on either side of the makeshift dash... and was epoxied in place!) Observations: The Red wire is always Hot. Black is ground. It seems that when I turn the key 'ON' the Blue wire and Yellow wire become +12v... and that the White wire and the White/Black wire are lifted from ground. Am I correct so far? The Yellow wire is the oil light? The lamp was open (Burned out)... so I replaced it. It still does not light when the ignition is turned on... Bad oil pressure switch? When I press the accelerator the engine turns over and (most of the time) cranks. When I lift off the accelerator the engine dies. Is it supposed to idle? I have installed a tach and the engine stops accelerating at 3200rpm. Is that about right? If the engine should idle, what rpm is a good idle speed? Enough for now. Thanks for any assist! Michael~ |

It will not light when you turn the key on! IMO... the easiest way to test the light and the sensor is to, get a clean drain pan, drain your oil, and turn on the key, (WITHOUT pressing the "GO" pedal) and the light should light! If not, your light, or your sensor is bad. Then refill your oil. from what I can see... everything you stated is normal... What is it that you think that your cart isn't running so well? |

Re: Sequence questions...
Hey Don,
Thanks for splainin' the oil light. I will check the switch over the weekend. As far as the cart's performance... sometimes it would not start... or even turn over! at times it would cut out or die while driving. I know that the four micro-switches are involved in the start-run sequence, so I will probably replace them next. There was a 1/4 to 3/8 inch slack in the throttle cable and about the same in the governor cable. I adjusted both and much of the hesitancy has gone away. I found a connector pin and clip installed upside down so it was dragging against a mount. Just simple stuff that can create multiple problems that are difficult to diagnose. I am slowly learning the car and it's workings... and reading the forum threads is helping a ton! I appreciate the feedback... Michael~ |
