Default Bent Frame

I picked up a 99 DS that has been wrecked. No top, windshield or batteries. Everything else supposedly good. Do you guys think this frame is past the point of no return? There is a fab shop up the road that works with aluminum.

PS - If I cant fix the frame, ALL parts will be avaliable if anyone needs anything. 36v motor, Curtis 1204-410 controller, 48v powerdrive charger, etc....

If it was me, I'd sell all of those parts and start looking for a cart that doesn't need as much work from the get-go. You can fix anything but tig welders and fabricators ain't cheap.

Good luck

Shovel, you need to buy anything? I bought the cart knowing what kind of work it needed, hell thats where the fun is at. I have another 99DS that is pretty much done that I use. I wanted a project though

That one should straighten!

This one (daughter planted in a big oak tree) will not:

This one is easy. Get a big pipe clamp and run it from side to side across the car at the very front of the side stringers (Where the rubber trim is located) Then bolt the larger of the two spring retaining plates to the frame in the existing holes. Just lightly tighten the bolts. This helps keep proper spacing between holes while straightening. Get a porta-power hydraulic ram and brace one side up against where the side stringer and the round aluminum tubing is. Pump is whichever way you need to until you achieve equal measurements on both sides. Re-install front suspension and replace any bent parts. It'll be good as new. It's only about 10 minutes worth of work with the right tools.

David, sounds easy enough... thanks for the reply. There are some welds that broke as well. Some of the welds that hold the tube to the frame appear to have broke too, like the tube twisted or something. I noticed what looks like 2 stress cracks on the top of the i beam as well. Ill get some good pics of what im talking about.....

That'll work.... If all else fails, throw a factory lift kit on it with a new nose piece.. 90% of what is bent would get cut off in the lifting process. Club Car offers a new nose piece that consists of the bumper mount and about a foot or so of I-Beam from the nose back already welded together and ready to bolt on. That's what we do with the ones that are REALLY bad and can't be straightened.

sunoco, I didn't read in your first post where you were looking for a project. I was only answering the question, " Do you guys think ..." Most all of these carts can be straightened and reused if you have the know-how, access to the coin and don't mind investing the sweat equity, good luck.

- thanks for the offer on any of the pieces parts though, but my dance card is full (I have enough projects) and I'm not much of a Club Car fan.
