Battery/Wires Grounding Out On frame?
Hey Guys Merry Christmas,
Stupid question... I have had some radio issues over the last year and I just got my Sony marine radio repaired under warranty. I'm going back through everything to make sure it's wired correctly. I have a reducer that run's off 2 of my 8volt's and it reads 13 volts so that part is good. My question is.. If I totally isolate a battery nothing conected to it and I use a multi meter to check the DCV from the positive post then grounding it on the frame should it read 0? Analog meter no needle movement, A friend of mine says my 03 series 48 volt cart should be reading nothing because the alum frame is not a ground? Thanks, Steve |

You never want to ground anything to the frame in a cart, all grounds go to the battery -/neg post NOT the frame

Your friend is correct, Electric GC do not use a frame ground. Everything is on a 2 wire system.

Im in Ga and it's been raining all day. The cart is dry in the garage. I'm getting some volt reading 8+ on all the batteries and the rod battery holder nuts touching the frame?

Did anyone else do any mods to this cart before you got it? Sounds like someone ran a frame ground.

Re: Battery/Wires Grounding Out On frame?
Thanks for the input guys,
A couple of time I've added to much water to the bats, so they bubbled over. My alum frame under the bats is pretty corroded. My question is: Is this going to damage anything? that I'm getting volt readings from grounding the frame. Steve |
