Modify driven clutch, or buy a NEW one & modify it?
My classic vehicles have all been OEM and completely stock. My CC Precedent is modified. However, nearly everything I've done to it can be reversed.
That is to say everything on the CC can be undone, unbolted or removed and replaced with the parts that were added. Wheels & Tires, lift kit, dash, zip tie, even the original seat covers reside under the new ones. But now I'm seeking torque and from what you fine folks have said, machining the driven clutch is a good option to consider. So, I'm seeking advice from those who know. The aftermarket driven clutches seem to be reasonable priced. I thought I might purchase a new one, send it to Tom for machining and a spring, and then simply replace the one on my cart. My cart is new (less than 3 gallons of fuel through it), but I wonder if this is unwise to consider. Your thoughts? |

Re: Modify driven clutch, or buy a NEW one & modify it?
Well, absent other advice, I bought a new OEM driven clutch.
How about this question: Have Tom at CCP machine the *NEW* clutch, or should I send the original equipment clutch on my cart that probably has a total of only about 3 or 4 hours on it? http://www.ebay.com/itm/251432994975...84.m1439.l2649 |

I don't think that 3 or 4 hours on the clutch makes any difference. Send Tom the new one since it's probably still in the box. A spare one is handy to have around...

Have the new one shipped right to cpp, that will save you a couple bucks.

I have a 2000 cc ds and I sent mine to Tom and got it back quick and it was the best money I have spent on the cart yet...gave my cart more Torque and Power.. It turns my 25" tires with out a problem.

6 months later and I finally sent it to Tom. Returned in less than a week, I can't wait to install it during the Labor Day holiday.

My machined clutch has been installed. While not critical, I truly notice no difference in pulling, driving up an incline, or anything else.

Did you also install the extreme duty drive belt offered by CPP?

My "gauge" as to whether there is improvement is primitive: An incline often travelled, and pulling boat hoists up a seawall at our lake house. No difference in maintenance of speed up the incline, and not at all easier to pull the hoists. Is a new SD belt that critical or essential? |
