I'm running Windows 11 on my work laptop and it runs the Toolkit software just fine.
If you have Windows 10 or up you have to disable Safe mode in order to use anything outside of their app store, but once its disabled you can run pretty much everything.

If you have a chromebook or other similar type pad you won't be able to run the full version of windows with those. It has to be on an actual laptop or PC.

I have the toolkit software loaded on both my windows 10 64bit workstation and my old win 7 32bit laptop. that said I know there are different versions of alltrax software for different controllers and imagine some older software is more forgiving and can even be installed in compatibility mode on newer windows platforms.

The compatibility mode seems to be the solution for older software running on Win 7/10. For connection to the DCX controller it still needs a serial com port, either usb / serial or what i've used with the Laptop, a pcmcia / serial adaptor.

I disabled Safe mode on my Windows 11 not 10 laptop and thought I was good to go. However I still get the Motor controller not found every time I try to run ControlPro 39 download.
Looking at picture for kit from Alltrax it shown cable from controller with serial cable and adapter cable to USB.
My Radio Shack cable is RS232 to USB. It worked with the XP computer when I installed the controller.
I think my computer skills are my undoing.

Are you certain that the controller is powered up when you are asking the program to find it?

Key on and I hear the contactor close and see the meter show battery voltage, that I upgraded from you ScottyB, still working! Quality products.

What does concern me is that the RoyPow battery has to be removed to access the controller. I'm 73 and the battery weighs 95#s. I removed and plugged the cable in the controller and ran the cable to battery well and reinstalled the battery. Concerned about connection integrity.

I will remove battery and check just hope its not the cable or software that the problem.

Thanks again for you guy's and your help.

Maybe look in your device manager to make sure your USB to serial adapter is seen and working? Like I said earlier if it uses the "prolific " chipset in the RadioShack adapter cable it won't work on 10 or 11 in the device manager you would see a yellow triangle if it's not working.

If the controller has power, you should see the green light either on or flashing IIRC. The software can’t see the controller if there’s no power to it. The newer software provides power from your laptop….but older models/software do not.

He's using a serial to USB adapter and a very old controller.. it needs to be powered up first.
I'm fairly confident the radio Shack cables the issues

Not sure of the age of the controller but there is a version 38 for older units.
