2015 Yamaha Q29 with carb?
I have a Yamaha G29 Serial JW8-504xxx which according to what I look up is a 2015. I bought it as a 2015. Next to the forward revers lever appears to be a choke which confuses me. I thought from 2013 these were all EFI. I have attached a picture of what looks like a carb to me, unless the EFI look like this and have chokes?
Any opinions? I cant find any pictures of what the EFI look like. Thanks |

Re: 2015 Yamaha Q29 with carb?
They made them in both flavors. Carb and EFI.
Easy to tell the difference. Carb will have a 1/4” fuel line plumbed into a fitting on the side of it and a float bowl. EFI has no bowl and no fuel line going to it. It will also have a fuel injector. |

The choke knob is a giveaway that it's carbureted instead of fuel injected. Yes, as CP241 said they made both, side by side, for several years.

Thanks all, I learned something new. Wish I had known that before buying, but I guess it runs OK and will still get me around.

I promise you that when things get worn out and go wrong (which they will) a carburetor is much simpler and cheaper to repair / replace than the fuel injection & electric pump.
