Default 36v battery pack reading 54-55v

99 EZGo 36v. with Curtis PMC 25864G05 speed controller. Multimeter reading across battery pack is 54-55v. Each battery is reading 9v. Dash meter is in green fully charged position. Relay clicks on okay but not sure I should proceed with the battery readings I am getting. Cart does not engage when throttle is engaged. Batteries were bought new last year and have been charged several times. I never measured them before when I bought them. Rocket 605 extended life model batteries. I do not find the resistor on the solenoid either. This cart has been working for years before lurching started. Microswitch on throttle replaced and working right now. Batteries???

May need to check the battery in your meter.. Could be giving you bad readings. A 36 volt cart won’t last long on that high of voltage if it is truly that high. What charger are you using?

My first thought would be what is the water level like in the batteries and have they ever been charged dry? Also def switch battery in meter or check a known good battery voltage...

Battery charger is an ezgo Delta-Q 36v type. Never charged with dry cells. Cells are full now. Going to check meter. Good point, thanks.

Duh, thanks all for the education. Meter battery defective and I now have 36v. Now off to troubleshoot the controller. Thanks again.

You should have around 38.2 on a full charge. 36V is less than 50%.
