Pinging sound on 2014 RXV

I bought a 2014 RXV last week and it seems to be in really good shape. I am hearing a pinging sound, only when taking off and stopping. It is coming from the rear and I can hear it on the drivers side predominately. I noticed this morning that the rubber grommet on the bottom of the left shock is gone, so it may be the metal on metal from there. Someone else that I know heard it and immediately said they thought it could also be a bad rear end. Not sure exactly what that means, but it sounds expensive. I initially thought it had something to do with these electric brakes on the ezgo’s that my club car didn’t have. Can someone please turn up the sound and listen to this and give me your thoughts if you have any ideas?

Missing shock bushing will definetlly cause a rattling sound.

I've heard three or four RXVs make that high pitched slight pinging noise on a hard acceleration from a dead stop. Couldn't decide whether the sound was coming from a hub or the rear end. All of them are still going today.

possible axle bearing. they will make a similar noise when they start to fail.

So, is that something that needs to be addressed quickly before it causes more harm, or is it something that will just make noise until I fix it?

It will get worse and worse. Eventually will cause damage, but not for a while. The worst part is just before it causes damage, the inner race will seperate from the outer race. The outer race will then stay in the axle tube when the axle shaft is removed. The stuck outer race can be very difficult to remove.
