Default 2013 EFI - Installing High Speed Gears

I am interested in purchasing a brand new 2013 EFI Gas Yamaha golf cart. I understand that a stock cart right from the factory has a top speed of about 14 mph.

I would like to install a set of high speed gears in the differential to bring the speed up to 20 - 25 mph.

Has anyone documented doing this upgrade? Maybe a you tube video? Step by step instructions with photos? A recommendation on what gears to purchase?

Thanks

Gordy-You might check with the dealer about a factory "high speed" option. I thought they were offering one on their "street ready" EFI you might be able to get a deal on the option with a new purchase. Also, if you do an install yourself I suggest you check on the status of your new cart warranty. Welcome to the forum

If you have any links or websites that you know of where "factory installed high speed gears" is an option, please point me to them.

Otherwise I will start asking dealers.

Thanks,
Gordy

i have seen no "factory high speed gears", and i looked at the order sheet for the 2013's. you can get 18-19mph by adjusting the governor like all previous yamaha gas carts (your dealer will probably not want to be involved, if they tell yamaha about the adjustment, your warranty will be reduced to 1 yr or nullified). Yamaha factory service guy expresses yamahas disapproval of high-speed gears to us, i think it is more about speeds exceeding ANSI golfcart standards resulting in injury related lawsuits than anything else. I will ask around at Yamaha later this week, if i forget, someone PM me.

They sure do have high speed gears. I have them in my 2012 Drive.

May I asked who installed them? Were they installed at the factory or by the selling dealer?

i think they must have been installed by the dealer, apache gear in phoenix does make high speed gears for Drive. but i have never heard of yamaha motor corp offering them. many dealers offer them, installed by the dealer, not yamaha. i could be mistaken though.

Correct me if I am wrong but this additional speed (MPH....) is gained by higher engine RPM?

Thanks
