Default No power on my 1996 ez- go golf cart medalist

I ran a diagnostic tests for my 1996 medalist (Non DCS) Solid State Speed Controller and the ITS, everything checked out OK except for the problem I had to begin with. No power! Unless I jumped a wire from the positive side on the battery to the terminal on the solenoid were the red wire goes to, without that there is no power for it to run. But it dose run when I jump that wire. Is that the controller or the solenoid that has gone bad?

The controller is fine if it is moving by jumping the solenoid.... Have you checked for power on the two small terminals on the solenoid when the pedal is pressed?

You are bypassing the following items which need to tested, one of them has failed.
36v+ supply to the F&R MS (closest the drivers side)
The F&R MS (above)
The blue wire to the key switch from F&R MS
The keyswitch
The green wire to the peddle box MS
The peddle box MS
the red wire to the solenoid from above

Yes I checked the small terminals on the solenoid when the pedal is pressed and there is no power unless I run a jumper wire

Thanks scottyb, I checked all those things that you listed and they are all dead unless I run a jumper wire from the positive terminal on the battery to the red wire terminal on the solenoid then everything powers up

Check the source = reed switch, use the bypass I picture documented.
You will see it posted everywhere.

This pic from one of my carts that had a reed switch problem shows the reed switch which is an ignition safety cut off. This disables the cart when the charger is plugged in. If you take it upon yourself to bypass it, then run the charge cord through the steering wheel each and everytime you charge the cart so somebody doesn't drive off dragging the charger behind!
