Default No Power on inclines

My daughter bought a 1992 club car 36 volt cart. we replaced all 6 batteries with brand new ones and it still will not climb a gradual incline . it runs great on flat but as soon as you start up a hill it dies to a crawl. I have the same cart but an 1986 and my cart flys right up the same hill with 5 year old batteries. what else should I look for in trouble shooting this system. I should ad this system is the one that has the speed coils along with the copper pads and sweeping arm on the gas pedal. any help woud be great

I would start by checking your voltages. You can poke probes of your multimeter into the charge port. Check resting voltage, then voltage of cart crawling up incline. Also check resting voltages of individual batteries. After incline test, check to see if any wores or connections are getting abnormally hot. DO NOT touch resistor coils.

Could it be something with the coils. I did check voltage and it was 38 across the batteries. What about dirty connection

Rick,

This is why I asked you to check voltage under load, and to check for heat at connections. This can tell you a lot about where you might be losing power. As you press "gas", are you getting all the "steps" in the V-glide?

Sorry jack. I'm new with carts and fixing them. I will not be by the cart until the weekend then I will do what you said. I will get back to you. Can I pm you?

No Problem. Sure, you can PM me. But it is actually better to go through the whole process here on the forum so that others can learn. And, there are many people here more knowledgeable than I am. Whatever you are comfortable with. It is all good.
